A study was conducted to know how household practices like dishwashing methods are related to the development of allergies, eczema, and asthma. The research polled parents , guardians and 1,029 children in Sweden. The results showed that families using machines to wash dishes are more likely to have children developing allergies, eczema, and asthma compared to those that hand-wash dishes. These results confirm the "hygiene hypothesis." This means early exposure to germs and allergens can prevent a person from developing allergies. On the other hand, an allergen-free environment in early life makes a person more susceptible to allergies.
